Mathew Lomas

Mathew Lomas is a multidisciplinary musician, specialising in composition and scoring for moving image. Originally from the Wirral, Merseyside, Mat studied Jazz at Leeds College of Music (majoring in guitar). Mat's early  career took him on tours which included performances at the Royal Albert Hall, the French alps and Liverpool Sound City.

After a significant period of DJ and live tours, Mat decided to focus more on his studio production and composition work. In 2021 he obtained a first class honours in Creative Practice (MA) from Goldsmiths University of London where Mat now works as a studio assistant engineer. His final portfolio saw the release of his audiovisual album I'm not the sentimental type, but... which premiered as an installation at the Future Yard, Birkenhead.

 

Today Mat is based in London, writing music for sync-related media, as well as making and performing music in his  Portamento and Gumflowr projects. He continues to write and produce for other emerging artists and teaches music production at the London School of Electronic Music (LSEM) . Mat also hosts a monthly radio show on Voices Radio.
